KAREN
WAR ORPHANS
IN THEIR OWN WORDS
The following
links present the stories of three young Karen individuals whose fathers were
murdered by the Burma Army. The stories describe what happened and how they
have struggled to survive to the present day. The letters were handwritten in
Karen, to enable a better presentation, and then translated - somewhat roughly
- into English.
They received some funding from sponsors arranged by the International Assistance
Group, Inc., so they could go to school. They are in need of additional support.
Anyone willing to help should contact IAG at http://members.tripod.com/~PeeTahThoo.
These stories have been
collected to highlight a forgotten group of victims of the Burmese dictatorship:
the children who are left behind after their parents are murdered.
