KAREN STATE SITREP, AND BURMA Q&A
March 5, 2006
Please forward.
We have posted a situation
report of the SPDC offensives now underway in the Karen Toungoo and Nyaunglaybin
districts. This report discloses, among other things, the shooting deaths of
five Karen civilians by Burma Army soldiers, and the deaths in combat with the
Karen National Liberation Army of nineteen Burma Army soldiers.
Also, I was recently asked a series of questions about Burma and the policy
of the United States Government, by an American student preparing for a debate
competition. The questions and my responses are given
here. Although I was not asked this specific question, I have included an
analysis of the factors holding back a new popular uprising in Burma.
In addition, I was asked a series of questions by a Bulgarian activist about
the general philosophy of Dictator Watch. These responses are posted on Activism
101.
