GREEN
EMPOWERMENT
PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS FOR
KAREN MEDICAL CLINICS
March 2004

The project began with basic training about photovoltaic energy systems and
electrical systems in general, including the supply of technical documentation
(laminated to be durable in wet conditions).
The Karen medical clinics sent workers to participate in the project. They had
to learn how to assemble the solar panels and their metal braces; to build a
structure for the panels so they catch the sun; to assemble the system's related
charge controller; and to install all related wiring. Once they return to their
clinics, they will be on their own.
Each clinic was also provided with a tool box to complete and maintain the energy
systems.
