CRISIS IN EASTERN BURMA
A victim of Burma's military
junta, the State Peace and Development Council. Some peace. Some development.
It is impossible to say who this individual might be. An educated guess would
be a porter who was killed after he became too weak to carry his load, but there
is no way to know for certain. He is one more casualty to be added to the list
of thousands, tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of people who have
died as a consequence of military rule..
We apologize for showing him this way. We do so only in the hope that the image
of his corpse will somehow help speed the path of his murderers, the SPDC, to
justice.
This is a group of internally displaced persons, who have had to flee their
homes, and who are heading to Thailand, where they would like to be admitted
as refugees. They were staying at the river, near where the body was found.
Other IDPs, on a trail.
Yet more IDPs, also living on a riverbank.
