THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY

January 2025

"We knew men hated women. The last election showed, for some of us, that we underestimated the extent to which some women hate other women," said Gilda Cobb-Hunter, a Democratic state representative from South Carolina and former president of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators. "America is as racist and misogynist as it has always been."

Everyone is bemoaning the fact that the orange felon will be governing without accountability. But let's be honest, there is no accountability in the Democratic Party, either. When they lost in 2016 there was no change in the leadership. It was still Pelosi and Schumer and Warren and even Bernie and others. But they lost!

When you lose it is time to get out and let a new crowd have a chance. Look at the statement above. It's true. Many American men, and - amazingly - women, hate women. But behind this simple statement is the fact that the percentage of haters increases with every age group. Young people, both men and women, for the most part do not hate women. They are consumed with living their lives. They want to figure out what to do, and find someone to be with. Bigotry is a distant issue for them. (Excepting the racism of southern and rural whites, who are taught from birth to hate people of color.) Young people almost by definition are progressive. They are still full of life and looking to the future. So what's the answer? Choose young leaders, Democrats!!!

And not just stalwarts like AOC who are already established, but dozens if not hundreds of bright, hard-working, social-media adept young people. Individuals who have absolutely no ties to plutocratic, corporate power structures. They are not hard to find. Create a Young People's Front to counter - to fight - Old Bigot dominance.

Give up power, and not just when you get so old you have health problems and can't do it anymore. Find replacements to run the Democratic Party at every level and across the country. Do it now!
