Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra says that Thailand does not need American foreign aid. Does Thailand also not need American tourists, or American purchases of Thai rice and shrimp, etc.?

How much is Mr. Thaksin willing to sacrifice to please Burma's generals? Why would Mr. Thaksin undermine a long-standing strategic alliance with the world's leading national power in favor of a gang of murderous, drug-dealing thugs?
